Ben Lucas from RSA 2020 interviews Liz Kendall MP (Shadow Minister for Care and Older People), Alex Fox (CEO of Shared Lives Plus) and Dr Craig Berry (Lecturer at University of Warwick and freelance public policy researcher) following a roundtable event marking the launch of new RSA 2020 reports authored by Alex and Craig, on 19th of April 2012. Liz, Alex and Craig argue that building sustainable and socialised social care services is absolutely crucial to the future of public services, public finances and the provision of quality care, particularly as demographic and financial pressures rise. They argue that a new social care model must be shaped by co-production, community ownership and an innovative role for the state – where public services act as social catalysts to help strengthen networks of social capital and facilitate community ownership of services.
